Yvette: Late to her own party

"Where's Yvette?" asked Gloria Garnell.

"I don't know. She left early this morning and I haven't seen her since," Kiris replied, a thin smile spread across his lips.
A number of guests had already arrived and were making themselves at home in the living room.

Gloria stomped her feet. "What was the point in me coming if the party host isn't even here!"

How does Yvette handle her, Kiris thought.
"Now, now, Gloria. Don't be like that. I'm sure she's on her way by now. In the meantime, why don't we all do something fun?"
Kiris was about to lead Gloria out onto the patio when Poe started down the spiral staircase.

"Oh, Miss Gloria. You were wondering where Master Yvette is?" It sounded more like a comment than a question.

"Not now, Poe," Kiris started but Gloria cut him off.

"Yes. Yes, I would like to know where Yvette is. Do you know where she is?"

"He doesn't know--"

"Master Yvette left to go scuba diving this morning. I believe she swam all the way to the dive spot and hasn't come back yet."

"She's been gone all day?" Gloria seemed shocked.

"Yes."

"Poe! You weren't supposed to tell anyone that!" Kiris said and then turned to the fuming Gloria.
"How about we--"

"No! I'm out of here!"

"Miss Gloria, I would advise on not leaving. I believe Master Yvette had a breakthrough discovery while researching some sea life, and that is the reason why she went diving. Would you really critisize someone just because they love doing their job?"

"Well... No.. I..."

"Would you wish you join in our ongoing game of pool upstairs? You and I could play table tennis instead, if that is what you prefer."

After a moment of hesitation, Gloria finally replied, "Table tennis--would be most enjoyable."

"Lead the way, Miss Gloria."

Gloria left the hallway first, leaving Kiris and Poe alone.
Kiris was the first to speak, "Poe! Don't think I can't see your circuits grinning!"

"I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about, Creator."
Poe slipped past his creator and onto the patio.

With a sigh, Kiris climbed the spiral staircase to join Anoki and Miles in their game of pool.
